Some of the root legends tell of a traditional and repeated use in the Amazonian border area between Brazil and Peru by the natives to increase their visual acuity while hunting. The drops contribute to sharpening their vision, awareness and extra sensory perception so that they remain strong and focused and to enable detection of subtle movements in the dark jungle (Lamber, 2010)
Furthermore, the drops can allow a strong visualization of the desired prey or plant, which enables a quick and successful search. A sananga is often combined with other hunting tools, such as a kambo, which further enhance hunting skills.
